Boats and Blossoms . . . and Friends from Georgia 7/25/2013

You all know how much Ted and I love to show off Mackinac Island to anyone who will come visit.  Well, today two friends from Georgia arrived, and we are PUMPED!

Ronnie and Claire Williams and Ted have been friends for decades (Ronnie and Ted met when they were both right out of college and began teaching together).  I didn’t meet this special couple until a while after Ted and I married, and we haven’t spent nearly enough time together.  So imagine how happy we were a month or so ago when they called to say they were coming to the Island for a few days!

They arrived this afternoon, and we rode over to meet them in Mackinaw City.

I don't think we stopped talking the entire ride over - catching up, planning where to eat, and what to do when. where to eat

Ronnie and Claire are staying at the Bay View B & B. Ted nor I had ever been inside, but WOW - what a great place! Loved their beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the marina and most of downtown, as well as this huge porch on the second floor.

We had lunch in the Chippewa Hotel Dining Room, overlooking the marina, then left them for a few hours to shop . . . . or relax.  We’re heading back downtown soon to meet up with them and catch Music in the Park tonight and maybe a late dinner.  They’ll be here until Sunday . . . so excited!

BLOOMS

Daylilies are blooming all over Mackinac right now.  Here are a few photos of a couple of bushes in the heart of downtown.

It’s going to be a busy weekend as we try to show Claire and Ronnie as much of Mackinac as we can in the time they have here.  They leave Sunday morning, and on Sunday afternoon my old, old (ok – she’s my age) high school friend, Ann, and her husband (from near Atlanta) arrive with friends of theirs from Michigan.  Ted and I are making lists of sights to see and places to eat and trails to hike with all these folks.  Never let it be said when you visit the Hortons on Mackinac that you go home rested!

Please keep Buzz and Patty in your prayers as they had to leave unexpectedly this afternoon due to a medical emergency with a friend of theirs in Oklahoma.  I know they would appreciate your safe travel prayers and prayers for their friend’s return to health.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.  God bless.
