For Saturday 7/9/2011

Header:  French Lane flowers.

The annuals planted in the Grand Hotel flowerbeds after the tulips were pulled have been in the ground for about three weeks now.

They've probably already grown 8-10" in that time - if not more. Can't wait to see them in another month!

Mom . . . don't you think it's time you got off the computer and planned what you're going to talk about to those people on Saturday?

  1. What a precious fur baby! He looks like such a sweety! I love Goldens!

Please give hugs to your baby for me – I love your blog, too – I’m determined to visit Mac Island sometime in the next year or two! Heaven Willing!

    Happy Weekend!

    Linda

  2. Brenda,

I hope all goes well today with your presentation, as I’m sure it will.

I love your header. Peonies are so beautiful. The picture reminds me of the time (about 1942) when my mother took my brother and me to visit my grandmother. Grandma had some peonies growing near the lilacs to the west of the house and some of the peonies were in bloom with many more of those big beautiful buds. Being the helpful little boys that we were, we proceeded to pick off all the ants. After we had done that, we went into the house and proudly told my mother and grandmother what we had done. Imagine our surprise when they told us that the ants were supposed to be there.

By the way, my grandpa called us The Katzenjammer Kids. What mischief (definition: vexing and annoying action[s])we didn’t get into hadn’t been thought of. We weren’t twins, but we were only fourteen months apart and many people thought were. If you don’t know who The Katzenjammer Kids were (are) check Wikipedia.

    • Oh, I’ve heard of the Katzenjammer Kids, Lowell. But thanks for implying I’m not old enough to know about them!

  3. We had peonies at our old house too. I always wished that the blooms would last longer then they did. A good heavy rain could wipe them out in no time, nonetheless they sure were pretty while they lasted. Good luck on your speech Brenda, although I’m sure you will do just fine. And yup, I’ve heard of the Katzenjammer Kids too. 😉

    Have a great weekend!

  4. Bear is such a beautiful dog! I hope one day I’ll grow out of my allergies and be able to have a dog like him. Although, I’m not sure if growing out of allergies is a possibility at 27 years old…one can always hope! 🙂

    • You might consider a poodle or a goldendoodle (a cross between a golden and a poodle). Both are hypoallergenic and wonderful for allergy sufferers.

  5. I actually have a little Maltese…and he is awesome, but my fiance dreams of having a big dog one day. The little white dog has grown on him….at first he felt a little less ‘manly’ for driving around in my purple car with a little white dog lol
