It’s a long way from Georgia to Michigan – especially if you fly. 6/13/09

Friday, 8:02 a.m. – The day so far has NOT gone as planned.  We got a midnight phone call last night from Tommy and Sandi.  Their plane was an hour late leaving Atlanta.  Since they only had a 38 minute layover in Detroit to catch their Pellston flight – it just didn’t happen.  As they were landing in Detroit, the Pellston flight was taking off.  Delta put them up in a motel, and they are taking a 9:10 a.m. flight out of Detroit.  Ted will be there to pick them up at the airport after a mad dash to the grocery store in Cheboygan.  Hopefully, from that point everything will go a lot more smoothly!

10:10 a.m. – Ted just called and is leaving Cheboygan for the Pellston airport (about a 25 minute drive).  Their plane lands at 10:20 if it’s on time, so they shouldn’t have to wait too long.  They will try to make the 11:30 ferry (Pellston airport is about a 20 minute drive from ferry dock).  If all that works, they should be here at the condo by 12:30, depending on how long it takes to get a taxi up here at noon at the height of the Lilac Festival.  Hmmm ….. I don’t think I’ll start fixin’ lunch quite yet.

10:45 a.m. – Ted just called from Pellston Airport – he was on time, the plane is not.  They should be arriving at 10:55.  If they make the 11:30 ferry, it will be a miracle.  Next one is 12:30 p.m.  I knew there wasn’t any need to start lunch!

11:40 a.m. – They made the ferry!  My husband, the miracle maker (and speed demon)!

12:32 p.m. – Maddie and Bear waiting for the taxi bringing their dad and Sandi and Tommy up the hill.

It is so good to see Tommy and Sandi again – it’s been a long time.  They are here at the height of the Lilac Festival, and the lilacs are almost in full bloom.  There are a lot of fun events going on Saturday and Sunday, and I will have my camera at all of them.

I won’t be blogging for the rest of the weekend though, so I can spend more quality time with our guests (another guilt trip).  But, good Lord willing, I promise I will have a new post online Monday morning with lots of pictures from the weekend.

Thanks for visiting with me this week, and welcome to all my new readers!  Have a great weekend!
