On the road again . . . . (5/17/09)

IMG_0120This will be another late night edition.  We plan to leave at 5 a.m. Sunday morning, so there won’t be any blogs being published in the morning – if I can just make it to the truck I will be happy.  Then I will sleep a few more hours.

Ted got the truck packed around 11:30 Saturday morning and we headed for Atlanta.IMG_0129

It was a good day – a leisurely three-hour trip up I-75, no grid-lock, and dinner with Jason & Blair.  We love coming up to see them.  Blair is a great cook, and between the two of them and their animal menagerie, Ted and I stay in stitches the whole time we are together.  They have two dogs and a cat, so you can just imagine what it’s like when we throw Maddie and Bear into the mix.

Bear is always so excited when he gets to play with their Bernese Mountain dog.  With only Maddie to play with at home (Bear could easily put Maddie in his mouth and swallow her whole), Bear loves getting to play big dog games with Bayla.

IMG_0144Ted, on the other hand, settled right in to watch the Preakness.  With Blair cooking, Jason providing the Blue Moon, and Ted not having to drive, he dove right into “vacation” time.

If you look closely at this picture, you will see that Maddie is on the alert for their cat, Skittums.  The cat becomes a permanent fixture under Jason & Blair’s bed when Maddie’s around.  Smart cat.

IMG_0150IMG_0147As you can tell, all the four legged creatures in this house are really abused.  I told Jason I was going to report him to the authorities.

OK – I know this has been a totally silly post, but we are all in a silly mood tonight.  And sometimes, you just have to be silly.  Tomorrow night we will be in Michigan, if all goes as planned – the southern part of Michigan, which means we will still have another 4-5 hours of driving to get to the northern tip.

Please keep those prayers lifting up.

  1. Good morning my friend. It is 5:00 AM my prayers are said and hopefully you are all on your way. We use to take our school children to Whittemore Lake for ACSI speech meet. We had a favorite resturant but my car just followed everyone else so I have no idea of the name. Sleep tight. I listened to wild waves all night and the sky is crystal clear and pink as the sun rises this Sunday morning.

  2. Guess you are around 350-400 miles up the road by now.

Another blessing from the Irish for you:
May those that love us, love us. For those who don’t love us, may God turn their hearts; and if He doesn’t turn their hearts, may He turn their ankles, so we’ll know them by their limping!

    Be safe. God bless.
